Underwater hotel room in Zanzibar lets you sleep with the fishes

It's not as elaborate as the proposed Poseidon Undersea Resorts, but the Underwater Room off Pemba Island in the Zanzibar Archipelago is open for business, and gives visitors an opportunity to watch the reef fish swim by their bedroom windows.
Part of Pemba Island's Manta Resort, the Underwater Room is tethered to floor, and according to the resort, coral is already gathering on the anchoring lines. Above the water, there is a sunny top deck and lounge, but the real attraction is the bedroom, where bat fish, octopodes, trumpet fish, squid, and spanish dancers glide by. At night, spotlights under the window attract curious nocturnal species.
According to the Underwater Room website, artist Mikael Genberg was the force behind these particular accommodations. In 2000, Genberg opened his first underwater hotel room, the Utter Inn in Lake Mälaren, Sweden.
These photos were taken by Photographer Anhede for the resort. You can see more on the Manta Resort Facebook page.
